Chapter Nine → Life makes love look hard, the stakes are high, the water's rough but this love is ours

Suzanna's first order of business before her after starting high school is finding a date for prom, which was the Monday after her birthday weekend. She thought it was wholly unfair that she hadn't even met anyone in her high school yet besides the little nerd next door. And he was way outta the question, anyone who followed her around for an entire summer asking her if she had boobies when they were eight was way too dorky for her.

Finding a date ended up being more difficult than she had first assumed.

Looked like it was the dork next door or nobody.... hello! Seemed like the dork next door grew up some when she was away at boarding school, they quickly agreed to attend the prom together, thankfully he didn't ask her if she had boobies as he could plainly see she did.

Surprisingly Suzanna won prom queen, which she wasn't expecting, but she had an inkling it was because she was Zane's little sister and he was kind the hot deal at school. There was a list of people trying to go to the prom with him, he ended up taking his best friend who had recently graduated and missed out on going to her prom. Zane, to no one's surprise, won prom king.

At the end of the week it was Kinsley's birthday, but she wasn't about to let that stand in her way of work. The woman continuing on with the less than glamours P.I work, which she actually enjoyed, even with all the trash can digging and slapping that happened.

When she returned from work, her family met her with cheers and a cake. She put on a brave face and smiled through it all, although she was still wary about aging. How had time moved so fast?

She was less than impressed once the candles were blown out.

"You aged beautifully." Cherie said with a loving smile, reaching out to touch Kinsley's cheek.

"Liar." The graying woman said, leaning her head into the touch slightly.

"Never."

"Happy Birthday." The blonde said, pulling her wife into a hug.

"Happiest." Kinsley said with a gentle smile, echoing her words from her last birthday. She might have been growing older, but she wouldn't have changed the life she had for anything in the world.

The next day dawned bright and early, and Kinsley was once again out on the prowl, retirement the furthest thing from her mind. Besides, she mad a fantastic shrub, no one could see her, really.

After work, Cherie headed out for a jog, feeling a little cooped up, which left the house empty when the teens arrived home after school.

"God, this is dull!!" Suzanna whined as she and her brother did their homework, Zane attempting to ignore both her and his annoying cellphone. It's was probably Elisa again, she seemed to think they could be an item after the dance even though he had made it very clear to his friend that he wasn't interested. "Are you gonna answer that?"

"No."

Suzanna sighed. "I'm bored."

"Then go get un-bored, but stop repeating it like a parrot cause i'm not gonna suddenly burst into flames to entertain you or something!" The boy snapped.

"God! Snippy!" The girl said before grabbing her own phone.

After a quick phone call she invited 'nerd boy' over from next door, the two hanging out for a bit until he asked her if she wanted to go steady. Suzanna surprised herself by the fact that she did, a lot.

A lot.

"Our bed!? You lost your virginity in our bed!? To that... boy." It was obvious that Kinsley had wanted to call Suzanna's boyfriend something else but bit her tongue. "You are so grounded, grounded for years child! If i could send you the Mars to keep you from having fun, i would!" Suzanna was too busy wondering exactly when her mother had gotten home, way to burst the 'first time bubble' mom.

Cherie, while not any more impressed than Kinsley was, knew that Suzanna was just being a teenager, like they had been once. So the blonde decided that she and Kinsley needed a bit of a night out, to de-stress as it were. Dressed to impress, the two went out to dinner and the theater.

Only this time the theater was open, they weren't drunk and there was no semi public theater sex.... seemed like time was catching up with them.

Chapter Notes:

Not a shit ton happened this chapter, mostly because the game glitched out and i had to go back to a previous save. They were suppose to go on one of those free vacations, but when they did the game said Kinsley died and sold her car and then when they came home, a day early, everything in their personal inventories were gone, so they had none of their work stuff, it was insane. Anyway, lots has happened and i am currently well into working on Generation two, so bare with me as there will be a couple more updates right after this one, just so i don't have such a huge gap between what's happening on the blog and what's happening in the game. Oh, and i'm now keeping a list of what songs the chapter titles are from, you can see it here ☺
