Chapter Ten → We'll have joys outnumbered, we'll share perfect moments, you and me

The week following Kinsley's birthday was as to be expected, the teens played, argued and Zane attempted to figure out a way to Suzanna's bring 'imaginary' friend into the land of the seeing. Speaking of seeing, Cherie's eyesight had started to deteriorate more than she liked to admit. She spent a lot of time squinting at things, the computer, the tv, books.

"Honey, face it, not everyone is meant to have 20/20 vision their entire life, go see an eye doctor." Kinsley pressed from where she laid on the bed reading.

"I can see fine." Cherie replied, it was the same conversation they had, had many times before.

By the end of the week, Zane had managed to bring Patches into the realm of vision as it were, the entire family shocked to realize that the dolls the children had as toddlers were in fact trapped spirits forced into the half life of the doll via powerful magics. "So, does that mean you're gonna do the same for Fluffs? Set him... her... whatever, free?" Cherie asked her son.

"Eh... i don't think so, Fluffs is pretty evil. Trust me, lets leave it where it is."

Patches moved out that day and got a job with the government, seemed she had quite the way with people.

That evening the family attended a school ceremony for Zane's school accomplishments, Cherie was a little late due to her having to stop off at the eye doctor after work, finally breaking down and getting the glasses she so obviously needed. "Mom, you look different." Zane commented outside the school.

"Yeah, i gave in, how do i look?"

"How much trouble would i get in if i quoted Grease right now?"

"A lot."

"You look great."

Kinsley missed the ceremony due to work, as she dusted someone's very ugly colored fridge for prints she felt a prang of guilt for missing seeing her son receiving his accolades.

Although, Zane hardly cared, he was quickly drawn into a game of hopscotch by his sister, she won.

The next day, dawned a bright morning for Zane and Cherie's birthdays. The two spent some mother and son time out in their teeny garden, Zane hopes to make it much bigger and set it up in a way so it's not so spastic looking. Although, to be fair, spastic fits the family so very well.

Before the birthday part happened, Suzanna asked to be taught to drive, it was properly terrifying for both parties involved.

Although Kinsley had to cut the driving lesson short to head down to the mayor's office to receive the key to the city, a way to thank her for keeping their little town so safe. If only they knew half of the things in her house she had stolen while on the job.

Speaking of stolen, Kinsley brought home a little pre-graduation/birthday gift for Zane. Even though it was an old beater, the boy adored it, Suzanna just pouted.

By late afternoon, everyone was home and it was time for birthday cake, Zane was first up.

Hellooooooooo doctor!

Next was Cherie, she was apprehensive of the whole thing, but put on a brave face for her family.

The brave face didn't last very long.

First order of business for Zane, tending the pathetic little garden.

Second, get a job. His parents were getting older and he knew sooner or later they would have to retire, and he was determined to be able to allow them to live the quality of life they had worked so hard for.

Once home, he went about the house and upgraded and tinkered with things. The stove, shower.... the crystal ball?

"You're so old now!" Suzanna exclaimed as she hugged her older brother.

"Hardly." He said with a chuckle.

"What are you gonna do? Move out like Katharine and Michelle did?"

"Nah, i think i'll stick around some. See that things work here."

Suzanna just smiled softly, silently thanking him. Seeing her mother's so old made her realize just how much time had past, she didn't wanna end up alone.

As Cherie and Kinsley got ready to turn in for the night, Cherie paused, looking at her wife across the bed. "Come on." She said with a little nod toward the door.

"It's nearly midnight."

"I know, come on." She took a hold of Kinsley's hand and they two headed into the backyard, sitting on the grass in the exact spot they had sat the night after they had moved into town so many decades ago.

"Never did get your apple tree." Kinsley commented softly, not wanting to break the trance of night that had fallen over the yard and town, crickets chirping off in the distance.

"Got it out front." Cherie smirked, speaking just as softly.

"We were okay." Kinsley said with a little smile.

"We were."

Chapter Notes:

And generation one is done! Yes, Kinsley and Cherie aren't dead yet and they will still continue on being part of the story, obviously. But i have reached all the goals laid out for generation one, so now it is Zane's time to take the lead in the story. Suzanna will age up soon and she will then move out with 'dork boy', i call him that because i can't remember what his actual name is lol. Zane grew up very prudy, i'm glad, his final trait is Angler. His story has already started, i'll be posting the first couple chapters momentarily, it's driving me a bit bonkers though, cause he has second chance and i need to keep the two people that are his current girlfriend and his future wife, from not only hating one another but keep them from hooking up with other people! Damn you story progression stop cock blocking!! Lol, anyway, yes, that's all for this chapter.

Also, quick reminder of what generation one goals were:

Marital Structure - Couple √
Children - Four √
Heir - Child number three √
Primary Income - Law Enforcement (super spy) √
Secondary Income - Private Investigator √
Generation Goal - Perfect Careers √
Miscellaneous Fun - It's so You! (make every room to match it's owner) √

  1. Grats on completing Gen 1. You are doing a great job and your legacy is really fun to read.
Zane grew up very cute. Second chance is a tough one, I've never rolled it myself. I look forward to seeing how you handle it!

  2. Thanks! :) I'm having a lot of fun with the challenge so far, i'm hoping i'll be able to finish it. I have most of my second gen's story planed out so far but my game flipped out on me today and is glitched out, i'm awaiting news to see if it was caused by a mod and if it's fixable. If it's not, well, safe to say i will be extremely upset if i lose the Talliway's after only one generation :(
