Chapter Three → We're gonna make it, you and I

As it turned out, life didn't get any easier for the young couple as the weeks dragged on. Hours got longer, nights got darker and they seemed to see less and less of one another. This wasn't what married life was suppose to be like.... right?

Private Eye work was way less sexy than old black and white movies had led Kinsley to believe, but she continued on with her work. Had too, Cherie had been accepted into the police academy and money was more than a little tight, so dumpster diving it was.

Of course, there was the being yelled at for the said dumpster diving aspect of the job that nearly just as uninviting.

Half naked men too...

A lot of half naked men, well, that's what she got for getting a job off the web. Damn you Craigslist!!

By the weekend it was either go out and work some of the stress off or beat someone to death with their own dumpster! Luckily Cherie agreed and they managed to find the seventy-five bucks for the sitter and went out to a little dive bar. "Don't get that." Cherie said as she brought her glass up to her lips, hearing Kinsley's cellphone go off, the other woman pausing momentarily. "I mean it, i will powder it and ram it somewhere if i have too, but don't get it."

Kinsley just smirked over the rim of her glass. "Promise?" She teased, yeah, it looked like it was going to be a good night.

Normally Kinsley wasn't much for dancing, she had two left feet that should have been nailed to the floor at birth, but after her wife got a couple of drinks into her, well, really, who was she to argue with such a crappy club hit? Turned out they weren't the only drunken people dancing, a few guys joined in. "Isn't he married?" Cherie whispered.

"Yeah, to a girl." Kinsley giggled just as the wannabe gangsta looking moron, complete with backward cap, paused and looked at her.

"Hey, don't i know you?"

"Going now." She said, pulling Cherie out the door with her.

"What was that about?" The blonde asked.

"I got our ride from his mom's place." Kinsley admitted. Now Cherie knew as a soon to be cop that she should've chastise her wife for the theft of the SUV, car theft was different than nipping a poxy handbag, but it was too funny so she just started to laugh.

The two stumbled drunkenly over to the theater, still giggling at the situation from the bar when Cherie got the bright idea to see a movie. Only problem it was nearly two in the morning and the place was extremely closed. "We can't get in, come on!" Kinsley whined. "I gotta pee, les'go."

"No, com'on, i wanna see what it looks like at night." The blonde said as she tried the doors.

"It's closed, give it up."

"You can get in, use that lock picking kit thingie you use for work."

"You want me to add B&E to my list of 'shit you could cuff me for'?" Kinsley arched an eyebrow.

"I'll stick ya in cuffs all right, but after we get in there." Cherie grinned, it was that damn grin that had gotten them into so much trouble when they were kids, Kinsley never could say no to it. So with a sigh she pulled out her pick kit from her back pocket. "Move." She said, going to the door. Turned out Cherie didn't have cuffs to use on her, but she did make sure to make Kinsley forget all about that little fact.

They didn't get home until the sun was already breaking the horizon but the night was far from over, they felt like kids again, kids... right....

"Ugh, i am never drinking again!!" Cherie moaned after less than four hours sleep.

"You aren't even hungover yet, just wait, ya big whiner." Kinsley said to her wife as she dragged her ass up and out of bed, heading to the bathroom to attempt to wash away the sins of the night before, now if only she could remember any of them.

After her shower, Kinsley found Cherie already recovered from her bout of booze induced whining, playing with the baby. "Who's gonna be a big girl today? You are, yes you are!" She said to the infant in the most god awful tone.

"You look like the Joker's who's just been goosed by Penguin's beak nose." Kinsley deadpanned.

"Ew, mental images." Cherie cringed as she handed their infant daughter over to her lover.

"You started it." Kinsley teased as she headed out of the bedroom.

"Oh, i did not!" Cherie hurried after her, smiling.

After a quick birthday party, where Cherie was far too loud for either of their liking....

Michelle became a toddler, who looked less than enthused with her mothers. In fact, had she been able to talk her first words would have been 'you're both idiots'. Of course she couldn't, which was why she was content to just glare at them.

For her birthday, her parents had managed to buy her a few toys, of course there was no toy box and given that they needed a place to stick everything so they didn't trip over it constantly, Cherie brought home a big cardboard box from work. "You think she minds it's not a proper toy box?" The blonde asked as she leaned a hip against the kitchen counter, watching the baby crawl towards it.

"Something tells me she likes it just fine." Kinsley said with an amused chuckle as she watched their daughter climb into the large box and peek out from it like it was a magical house, the brunette had no doubt that to the tot in was a magical house.

As time went on the little family of three fell into a sort of pattern, a hectic one, but it was a pattern none the less. Cherie would head off to the academy in the morning and in the afternoon when she got home Kinsley would head out and work on her cases, in between all this they taught Michelle how to walk....

Somewhat against her will.

Dealt with her tantrums, that seemed to happen every five seconds.

And was just all around goofy. "Evil hand! Evil hand!"

"I am very sorry i terrified you, my hand is not in fact evil and there is no reason to fear me."

A calm fell over the little family, it was nice, simple, them.

Oh sure, things still broke down every other day and to do any type of laundry one of them needed to practically sit on the damn washer to keep it from shimmy and shaking half away across the room and turning the hall into a swimming pool. Pretty soon the managed to replace their fridge and stove, both of them still shitty, but not as shitty as their last set.

Eventually Cherie graduated the police academy and got promoted to beat cop, getting her own squad car, which she never used because it was a 'waste' to drive in a car with only one person in it. However things took a change when one night Kinsley returned from the library with Michelle to find her cop wife standing in the living room with a little surprise.

"What's this?" Kinsley asked the other woman who was holding a girl about Michelle's age in her arms.

"This, is Katharine." The blonde said with a smile to the toddler who just curled around her shoulder and kept quiet.

"What's going on?" Kinsley questioned, on the fence.

"Don't hate me."

"Don't tell me not to hate you, because whenever you tell me not to hate you i always end up hating you." The brunette said, eying her lover suspiciously. "What did you do!?"

"She's not mine! Well she is, but she isn't, not like that." Cherie sighed. "I didn't screw around on you is all i mean."

"Then where'd the kid come from?"

"The station, she was abandoned. None of the guys down there know what to do with the kid and C.A.S said they were gonna stick her in a foster home until they found something more permanent. You know how crappy foster homes are, i couldn't..." She trailed off, giving a little one sided shrug with the shoulder that the scared looking girl wasn't clinging too.

Kinsley gave a little sigh, looking into her wife's baby blues. Cherie wasn't normally a bleeding heart but she came from a broken home, bounced in and out of the system her whole life, there was no wonder why she had attached herself to the little girl. "We're gonna need another crib." Kinsley said softly with a gentle nod.

Chapter Notes:

Okay, so that's two! Only two kids and the place is already too full lol, i dread the other two. Yes, Katharine was adopted and is freaking adorable!! I'm almost disappointed that she's not my heir lol. Her traits are Loner and Artistic, brilliant once she's old enough she'll be demanding easels while the other one will want instruments, lucky mom's not above thieving lol. I find the idea of playing a dirty P.I married to a cop, really, really fricking funny. Just an FYI, i didn't in fact send Cherie to any academy or any other 'skill leveling' thingies, just wrote that in to explain how she went from desk clerk to cop in like a day, also why she's in this chapter so little! Seriously, i hate jobs that are based in rabbit holes, they're so annoying.

The next chapter might be oddly capped, just a forewarning. I played with two kids hanging off me asking, what's this, what's that!? For a good three hours today, my eight year niece old is really into the sims and likes to watch me play, which causes me to spend a lot of time putting the 'no mosaic' mod in and out of my mod folder lol. But today my five year old nephew got really into the game play and was on my lap for most of it, he really likes the P.I job, especially the trash can digging part.

Oh! Also, please forgive any odd spelling/grammar errors and strange sentence structures. I have a rather serious brain tumor that sometimes causes me to lose words and mucks about with my spelling/grammar, so if ya see something really outta place, it's just as i like to call them 'tumor moments' and i apologize for them ^_^

  1. Another great update :) Can I just ask, where did you get that cardboard toybox from? That's so cool!

  2. It really is cool, it's one of my favorite kid related items in the game. It came from Around the Sims 3, it's a donation item but there are other ways of getting it.... or so i've been told. *is completely innocent*

  3. Haha, innocent eh? Yeah I believe you. Do you happen to know the actual name of the Sims3Pack it installs as?

  4. Finally, somebody believes me! ;) And I do actually, since I had to check to remind myself what site it was from. It's titled ATS3_object_toy_donation_cardboardbox

  6. You're all crooks. >_>

But seriously, I agree with the idea of a dirty PI married to a cop being hilarious. Kinsley is one of my favourite started generations ever. She's just so much fun, and the evil hand thing... well, I've had to do that apology to my cousins at least a dozen times so far.

I don't think the youngest one has forgiven me for scaring her yet. She still sleeps with a night light now.

  7. Crooks, i've no idea what you're talking about, i'm a perfectly innocent little angel ~_^

I'm glad you like her! I'm surprised how much i like her too, cause i have a very limited attention span usually the sims i make are only interesting for like a minute.

Lol! Aww! I think we've all done the evil hand thing at least once and there will always be one little one that never forgives us for it.

  9. Thanks! I'm glad you like the couple, I like them too, I'm gonna be sad when they pass.

And yeah, I may be a little CC obsessed, I'm always looking for new stuff. It kinda sucks that the girl's don't have the cash for me to deck out the house with all the crazy CC I have lol.
