Chapter Thirty-Nine → When your tears are spent on your last pretense and your tired eyes refuse to close and sleep in your defense

The weekend following the twins birthday was as to be expected, Audra, as per usual was the first one awake. She always made sure to be the first one awake, that way she could have the kitchen to herself.

And a free kitchen meant that no one would bitch at her for cooking a new batch of pancakes even though there were three previous batches left over in the fridge that she could easily heat up. No, leftovers were absolutely not allowed, not after having sat in the fridge all day, under that light bulb, are you nuts!?

In in a few days prom would be happening, and Arthur was the shy type, he couldn't just pick up a guy randomly, he wasn't like his sister that way. So Aurora promised him she'd find him a date, and a cute one to boot.

That afternoon she put in a call to someone she knew Arthur had a crush on, Mark. Now, Mark was adorable, but not exactly textbook normal either. In fact, he was teased pretty badly at school by the jocks for being the 'bionic man'. The boy had a robotic arm, always had, he lost his left arm from the shoulder when he was a little kid.

She met him at the park next to their house, the boy just happy to be hanging out with someone who he would consider 'cool'.

Aurora didn't just randomly come out and blurt that she wanted him to take her brother to the prom, no, that would be tacky and so not her style. So she and Mark hung out a little bit, playing like little kids on the playground, the girl finding out that she actually liked him a lot. He was a great guy and would be perfect for Arthur. After she kicked his ass at hopscotch, she invited him over to the house for a while.

"Have you met my brother Arthur?" She asked before shoving the boy in question forward, Arthur muttering a sullen 'i hate you' under his breath at his twin before she skipped away with a giggle, Andrew rolling his eyes as he passed the two boys by the front door, Arthur attempting to make small talk and failing miserably.

"You know, i'm surprised you've not mentioned my arm yet." Mark said to Arthur after they chatted for a while.

"Why would I? It's just an arm." Arthur said with a shrug.

"You don't mind that i'm different?"

"Who am i to point out difference?" Arthur smiled shyly.

"I like that." Mark said, smiling.

"Enough to maybe, possibly, go to prom with me?" Arthur asked, hardly believing he managed to get the question out himself.

"I'd love too." Mark smirked, flirty.

"Finally!" Aurora said to herself from where she was in the living room, glad her brother finally got up the resolve to ask Mark out.

Meanwhile....
"Hey, what's wrong?" Audra asked her brother who was looking might cranky for someone taking an afternoon dip.

"Nothing, leave me alone." He said, swimming past her.

"Is it because Shayna's dating Adrian?" She asked.

"Shut up."

She did shut up, for about five seconds. "So it's Shayna?"

"Can't you leave me alone?"

"Did you hear he broke up with Patty to go with Shayna?"

"Why can't you just...." Andrew paused.

"What?"

"Nothing." Andrew said as he swam to the edge of the pool.

"Where are you going?" Audra called after her older brother as he climbed out of the pool.

"Patty's."

"Skeez." Audra called after her brother.

After the twenty minute drive down to Patty's house, Andrew pulled into the drive and walked up to Patty's older half sister Gloria. "Andrew!?" The girl said with a smile, flustered.

"Hey, is Patty around?"

Gloria's face fell instantly. "Inside." She motioned, the boy giving a wave of thanks as he headed inside the house. She should be glad that he didn't ask if her hotter sister was home, cause he nearly did.

Andrew, never one to be subtle, got right to the flirting with Patty, the girl agreeing to go to prom with him.

He might have been kind of a jerk, but damn if he didn't have the moves to back it up.

Sunday evening brought with it the prom, and the teens all gathered by the front door, waiting. Expect Audra it seemed, she was happy to play the piano in her swim suit. "Audra honey." Tamara called from where she was by the table. "Go get ready please."

As she did, some of the kids prom dates showed up.

Soon enough they all hurried out of the house to the awaiting limo.

With the house empty for the evening for the first time in what felt like years, Tamara took some time to try flex her sculpting muscles. She hadn't done it since high school, but she seemed to still have what it took.

Jarvis used the time to catch up on some laundry, it had gotten so backed up that he was literally out of clothes. Okay, so not really, he and Tamara had taken some time to be a 'couple' whilst having the house to themselves. It made them happy to know their children were out having fun.

Little did they know, not all of their children were at the prom. Audra had opted out of the dance, not getting in the limo with her siblings, instead heading to the park next door to their house. The prom wasn't her idea of a good time, spending four hours listening to taunts because she was the freak girl who wouldn't touch the punch for fear it had pesticides in it. Classmates tormenting her, dumping drinks or plates of food onto her dress. She might as well have been Carrie, all they needed was a bucket of pig's blood. What made it worse was the fact that her siblings didn't stop it, in fact, they sometimes joined in. It made her wish she had been born a twin as well, then she'd always have a best friend, like they had.

When eleven o'clock rolled around, Audra walked home, knowing her siblings would be arriving home any second as well. When her parents asked her how the dance was she lied through her teeth, talking about how amazing it was. She didn't want them to know that they had a loser for a daughter, it was unfair to them. When Tamara asked for her prom picture, the girl lied and said she never got one done because she didn't trust the look of the sketchy photographer. Tamara sighed, but accepted it as an answer, if only she had known the truth.

Chapter Notes:
I honestly didn't mean to make the rest of the Li siblings out to be such assholes, but it ended up working out that way. Audra skipped the prom autonomously, i was following Tamara and Jarvis around while i was reading the little pop ups about the goings on at the prom, Andrew and Alaura won prom king and queen again btw, and i noticed none of them had anything to do with Adura. So i clicked on her and there she was all alone, in the park. Well not completely alone, my sim self was there, again. I'm starting to think she's homeless and lives at that park, i swear, she's always there! She's actually in one of the pictures of Mark and Aurora at the park, i think the poor girl is craving love and attention or something lol.

Anyway! Prom picture montage!

Oh! And because there's no place in the story in the next post to fit a picture of Tamara's newest tattoo, that she actually got the day after prom (every Monday she gets one) here it is, on her shoulder.
