Chapter Twenty-Three → Where is my mind?

Even though everyone forgot his birthday, Noah assured them that he did not mind. Besides, he had more important things to do, like being Lord Noah, lording over the dinner table, in his lording way, all lordy.... he was more like his father than he knew.

The next night was prom, Peanut and Michael got ready in there own ways. "Where are you going? The limo will be here any minute."

"I gotta change." He said, hurrying off.

"But you're already dressed! You're mom picked out your clothes, remember, Michael? You promised!" She called after him as he hurried up the stairs, the girl's words falling on deaf ears.

So while Michael got into a pair of shorts and a tee (such fabulous prom attire), Peanut took out her annoyance on the lawn flamingo.

They won prom king and queen, which surprised Peanut considering Mike was bat shit insane, he assured her that the polls were fixed. She might have believed him, had he not gone into great detail as to how the space lamas were behind it all.

Meanwhile, Noah got to know his 'imaginary' friend a little bit better. "So i was thinking we just sneak up behind her and shove her into the pond, it'd be so funny!"

"Why do you wanna shove your sister in the fishing pond?"

"Because."

"Good reason." Boinky was a little too literal for Noah's taste.

"I can't do it!" Zane moaned later that morning, ever the dramatic one he was.

"What dear?" Cora asked, only really half interested in his lament.

"Figure out what my mother did to give Peanut a second life." He nearly pouted, his midlife crisis made him far too petulant, like a child at times, honestly.

Cora just sighed before getting up from the table and heading over to give Noah a small wrapped package. "Here, for Boinky, get him to drink it and he'll get a second chance like Peanut did." Noah was pleased.

"How'd you do that?" Zane asked his wife as they stood back to watch the swirl of lights appear in front of Noah, where just air use to be.

"Made it at work."

"But... I.... You..." Zane stuttered.

"I know dear." Cora patted his hand. "Don't worry, you still wear the smarty pants in the family." She assured in a soothing and just slightly condescending manner.

"Woah! You're green!" Noah said once he saw Boinky's human form.

"Only my hair." The boy replied.

"I like green."

"I know."

"Wanna go push Tamara in the pond now?"

Boinky shrugged. "'Kay."

"Your sister comes back with so much as a drop of water on her, you're both grounded." Cora called to them from the kitchen.

"Aw man!" Noah scoffed.

Michael on the other hand, had wanted to try out inventing, so his parents allowed him on one condition, he follow the set of rules they laid down surrounding him inventing. Their rules seemed a little harsh, but he agreed none the less.

Okay, so perhaps their rules weren't that harsh.

Chapter Notes:

Another short filler piece, i know, i know, get back to the story! There will be more substance to the next chapter since it will include Tamara aging up, but i don't like hopping between too huge time gaps without letting it be seen that they actually do live. Plus it's kinda 5am, so my brain is a little mush like and i might be a tad hungover, damn you long weekend BBQs! Lol. Bit about Boinky, much like Peanut, i didn't edit a thing about him. I always keep their skin tone and hair color as they are when they become human, i don't think i've ever had a IF turn real with a normal hair color. But then again, what's normal, i happen to have a purple head of hair right now. I'm weird though, and more importantly, purples looks fabulous on me :)

  1. My girlfriend has purple hair with green highlights right now. ^^ She looks great in it.

I feel so sorry for Peanut, having to deal with Michael every day when she knows he's bat shit crazy. At least she still seems to care about him, so there's that.
